Two Part Training Sessions.
Part 1, Basic Trach:
This class will prepare the healthcare professional with ways to skillfully take care of patients with tracheostomies. We will cover:
Airway Anatomy and Physiology
We will review the parts of the upper airway and discuss what a trach looks like in the airway, why patients are tracked, and how they are tracked.
Identifying common trach
There are dozens of trachs on the market. Our live classes will allow you to see and touch many of these trachs, so that you can get a good handle on the parts of the trach, how to order the proper supplies, and how to tell which trach size and brand of trach a patient has.
Part 2, Advanced Trach:
Of the many trachs on the market, some are designed for certain kinds of airways. This topic is about those unusual trach tubes that you will come across during your career. We will look at them and discuss their indications, contraindications, and how to use them.
Handling Tracheostomy emergencies:
One of the most crucial parts of taking care of a patient with a trach is knowing what to do should their trach become dislodged or come out completely. Our licensed respiratory therapy instructors will give you the confidence to handle trach emergencies like a pro!
Transporting patients with trachs:
Learn how to connect patients to the equipment needed to provide them with oxygen during transport.
